One Month

I simply cannot believe that my baby is already a month old.  He is growing like a weed and adding new tricks to his mix daily.  This week, he started to smile big smiles.  I wish I could say that I can easily make him do it, but not so much.  They come only when he is in the mood.  The past few nights he has been stretching out his feeding times (YAY!) to as far apart as 5 hours~ hopefully we can continue this trend!  During the day, he is starting to develop a bit of a schedule though it is still VERY flexible and changes often.  On most days though, he takes a long morning nap after a couple hours of wake time.  Then he wakes for "lunch" and will stay up for about an hour or so, then back to sleep with a longer wake time from dinner time until about 8 or so.  During the day, he cycles between cluster feeding and 2.5-3 hour eating times.  I love when things become a little more predictable!

In honor of the one-month milestone, Mommy staged a bit of a photo-shoot in the playroom...

Precious Little Feet
Here, I truly think he looks like Coby!
Here, not so much :)
We visit the pediatrician on Monday~ I am super anxious to see just how big he is!  I love each and every little roll and he is truly a delight to watch grow!  Love this little boy!

UPDATE: since publishing these pics, we visited the pediatrician... At one month, Ethan weighed in at 11lb.9oz. in the 90th percentile and measured 22.75 inches in the 95th percentile!  What a wonderful GROWING boy we have!

Three Weeks Old

Wow, how time has already begun to fly by!  On Wednesday, Ethan hit the three-week mark.  Also, on Wednesday, the DurhamConnects nurse came to the house to check on everything and take all of Ethan's measurements~ he is a BIG boy!  He weighed in at 10lb 5oz which is 3.5 ounces more than Coby weighed at one month~ my guess is at least 11.5lbs by one month for this guy!

He is alert more and more and generally pretty content.  He is sleeping in 3.5-4 hour stretches at night which makes for a reasonable night for momma!  He is a quick nurser rarely taking longer than 25-30 minutes and often less.  Such an easy baby!

Grandpa and Grandma paid us a visit last week and completely spoiled all of us.  Plenty of snuggles, swing pushes, visits to the store, and work around the house.  Grandma even painted the entire dining room for us!  We were sad to see them leave on Monday!

Coby is settling into his role as big brother and is learning to be more and more independent~ this is both good and bad for momma!  He can often be found anywhere on the first floor with a kitchen chair trying to reach something.  However, he is also a big help and will gladly run upstairs for a burp cloth or diaper when I need him to!

Daddy has spent a great deal of his week working from home in order to help me maintain my sanity.  He will wrap up classes in the next couple of weeks and then will be around even more to help us all out.  We are so thankful for him being flexible and engaged with us here at home!

All in all, we are happily settling into normalcy as a family of four!  Ethan is a delight and Coby continues to make us laugh on a moment-to-moment basis!

One Week (almost two)

Ethan turned a week on Wednesday complete with a visit to the pediatrician. He weighed in at a healthy 8lb. 4oz. indicating he had turned the weight loss corner and is starting to pack on the weight. He is a great eater and has settled into a wonderful sleeper as well!

He doesn't quite have a solid routine down yet, but he is pretty consistent at night~ a bit unpredictable until 11 but then sleeps until 3ish and then until 630ish. It is nice to have a good idea about what to expect.

I have not been so great about taking pics and need to get back on that or I am going to miss his whole first month! He is finally starting to lose his jaundice which is a good feeling! He is incredibly cute and already has a wealth of facial expressions! We still think he looks a lot like Coby, but we are starting to see elements of his own person in his looks as well.

Speaking of Coby, he is a great big brother and adores Ethan! Sometimes, he adores him a little too much and we have to run interference in order to protect Ethan from the smothering love :) It is so cute though when Coby will come up really close to Ethan while Ethan is sleeping and he will whisper, "I am being soooooo quiet!" Of course, minutes later, that will be followed up with a squealing spout of some sort.

All-in-All, we are settling in and couldn't be happier with our two little boys!

Bulldozers and Playdoh

Alain asks, "Coby, what's that?"

Coby replies, "I'm decorating my bulldozer!"

Of course, how could we not know?
